Site Description

This site is an inactive steel production facility at which there were 500 to 1000 cubic yards of contaminated soil and 750 drums of hazardous waste. The primary contaminants included cadmium, chromium, lead, and polychlorinated biphenyls. The threats of direct contact and fire and/or explosion existed. The containers were staged, the wastes were sampled and characterized, and wastes were disposed of off-site.
